CHAINS

Free in bondage, enslaved in life

Chains that hold one, out of sight

Your mind the warden

Your soul the key

Within the boundaries of destiny

Across the border so far from me

The sun has set on distant lands

But the sun will rise with me at hand

SPINNING

On my toes I begin to twirl

Round and round no time to stop

Spinning through my eyes is a distant world

As harder and faster my toes dance on

Hurry with this, rush with that

Chaos, confusion I cannot go on

Slow, now steady

My body is drained and my eyes are dry

Sleep...

There's no time for sleep

SLEEPLESS

Sphere of emptiness depth unrevealed

Vicariously tempestuous, dormant thus concealed

Sporadically wanton bellowing fear

Consciously gone, illusion so near

Transparently enraptured, opaquely free

Realm of stature vanishing from me

Seemingly lost in a passage of time

Relentless cost for thy heart of mine

BEFORE THE MIRROR

Breathing death, trapped in living

Taken to the edge, too brave to fly

Courage is face to face

Before the mirror

Accepting what is

Changing what isn't

You can laugh at that face

It's only the cover of your soul

SHADOWS

Standing in shadows that aren't mine

Wishing for dreams to come in time

Lazy to life just using my wit

Busy with nothing is all that will fit

Don't remember yesterday when I fell

Can't imagine tomorrow all that well

Only thinking on this day that goes to forever

Only feeling in this shade that leave me never

ONE THING

If I could see one thing it would be me

It would be me seeing only you

Seeing only you loving me

Loving me only loving you

Loving you being me

WITHOUT A WORD

Through a spirit of breath is our day on earth

To see every season of life that changes

To feel every pulse of time that passes

To know every blessing like that of a friend

This world sees only what you want

Each person takes only what you give

Passing love felt only what you shared

But the truest of friends know all that you are

They find the light in what's deep and dark

That like the sun seeping blindly through a crack

As they hear the words within your eyes

That tangle between your tongue and lips

If dusk darkens to light

And distance is more than miles

Know when dawn lightens the morning

This friend is there without a word
